‘The System’ Manual
‘The System’ was designed and authored by Coach Steve Kenyon. His intention was to create a framework which provides one coach or teacher with the ability to train 50 athletes in 50 minutes in 1,500 square feet; all while maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.
The System training manual is a day-by-day conditioning model designed to help bring out the best in high school athletes. Whether you’re training an inexperienced freshman male who plays football and baseball, or an experienced senior female who plays volleyball and waterpolo, The System can be tailored to all athletes regardless of their age, size, sex, sport and experience level.
The System incorporates three primary principles to help optimize athletic performance and reduce potential injury. The three principles are:
Emphasize free weight exercises
Engage multiple segments
Encourage standing position exercise
Elaborating on point number two, Coach Kenyon has found that his athletes see much better results when training movements instead of muscles. Training which emphasizes back, chest, arms, shoulders, etc. in isolation pales in comparison to instituting a total body training program, like The System.
The System takes components of weightlifting, powerlifting, bodybuilding, gymnastics, yoga, and sound physiologic principles which get amalgamated into the program with the sole intention of optimizing athletic performance.
The manual encourages athletes to train not just during the pre-season, but also while in-season. Studies have shown that 3-6 months of hard training can deteriorate back to baseline levels in as little as two weeks of no training, proving pointless come the post-season playoff run.
The System will build speed and strength in it’s athletes which improve upon throughout the entire calendar year.
